HUFFINGTON POST REVIEW OF ART EXHIBIT FEATURING MY WORK

The Huffington Post recently wrote an excellent review of the ground-breaking Third Muslim group art show that opened at the SOMarts gallery in San Francisco on January 26th.  Co-curated by Yas Ahmed and Zulfikar Bhutto, this show is giving a platform to queer/trans artists who have some connection to the Muslim world and whose lives have been deeply affected by the intersection of the different worlds and identities they must navigate.

SAVAGE MUSE PET PORTRAITS: MILLAY THE GOLDENDOODLE

I just had my first commissioned SAVAGE MUSE pet portrait....and I am hooked!  A client asked me to do a portrait of this adorable Goldendoodle as a Christmas gift for her sister-in-law.  The fur baby, Millay, was named after reknowned Pulitzer Prize winning poet, Edna St. Vincent Millay--who is definitely a SAVAGE MUSE and a very iconic woman.

After learning a bit about Millay the dog and Millay the poet, as well as getting some basic info about the gift recipients persona tastes (ie what colors does she like, etc)---I went to work.

Here are the two images I used as my reference for the pet portrait:

SAVAGE MUSE CUSTOM PORTRAITS

One of the visual art projects I have embarked on is creating Savage Muse portraits of all the fierce muses in my own life.  I start with a compelling picture of my subject as inspiration and then with a combination of hand painting and digital drawing, I create my interpretation of them as a Savage Muse.  

The great thing about these images is that they are available as high resolution digital files that can then be printed on gallery quality canvases, throw pillows, mugs, tshirts, notebooks and many other types of lifestyle accessories.

Here is an example of a portrait I did of my super talented and gorgeous sister Leila Parnian.   After I created the art, I had it printed on several different mediums to show what is possible.
